STORY OF THE CONGREGATIONS :

The Church of The Trinity Uniting Church came into being in 1991 following the unification of Presbyterian, Methodist and Emmaus Uniting Congregations. Prior to this, the Emmaus Uniting Congregation was formed from Vardon Memorial and Clarence Park Methodist congregations. Emmaeus then joined with Mitchell Park and Black Forest Congregations forming The Church of The Trinity Uniting Church.

Rev. Frank Doley's family dedicated this window after he left to fight in WW I and below are some records of his service.

BACKGROUND
"Frank Doley was born at Westbourne Park" Adelaide, Sth Australia "on April 6, 1885. He was converted in the Hindmarsh Circuit during the pastorate of the Rev.s J. Watts and W.H. Cann. Shortly after he became a Local Preacher and entered the Local Preachers' Training Home at Brighton, where he made diligent use of the opportunities for educational advancement.

He was employed for a time as a Home Missionary on Eyre Peninsula, and for a while worked as a navvy on the new railway lines there, in order that he might reach the men and win them for his Master by personal influence and example - a magnificent tribute to his self-sacrifice, courage, and earnestness in the Christian life.

In 1912 he was accepted as a Candidate for our Ministry, and rendered useful service in Clarendon, Lameroo, and Waikerie Circuits. In 1915, while in the Waikerie Circuit, he enlisted in the Australian Military Forces, and after a period of training was sent to France with the 27th Battalion. In the tremendous battle of the Somme he was so severely wounded, that notwithstanding the skill of the doctors, he died - the first Minister of our Conference to give his life for King and Country.

In steady continuance in well-doing, in unselfishness and integrity he won a good degree, and although his Ministry was a brief one, and his body lies far away, awaiting the resurrection of the just, his fidelity to the best traditions of our Church and nation will long be remembered with gratitude and admiration by those among whom he lived as a brother beloved."
